Listen to the beautiful sound of ticking clocks and explore a unique collection of artefacts…

Based in the picturesque village of Upton, just a few miles from Southwell, the Museum of Timekeeping cares for a unique collection of artefacts at the home of the British Horological Institute.

Visitors can explore a range of amazing exhibits including the watch worn by Captain Scott on his ill-fated polar expedition of 1912, discover early timekeeping devices, and hear the voice of the General Post Office’s first Speaking Clock via the original machine itself.

The rich history of the Museum and its members, who have promoted the study and practice of watchmaking since their foundation in 1858, is sure to charm with the unique background music of the many ticking clocks.

Housed within the lovely grade II listed Upton Hall, visitors can also spend time enjoying its grand rooms and beautiful grounds before stopping at the Clock House Café for a homemade treat.
